Meet ‘Dave’: Assessing tobacco industry arguments regarding the illicit tobacco trade.

Despite a long history of participating in cigarette smuggling, tobacco companies now claim to be leading the fight against the illicit tobacco trade. Should we trust tobacco industry claims about illicit tobacco, or are tobacco companies blowing smoke?

How does the Indian school curriculum influence the gendered capabilities of its female pupils?

Are the learning outcomes for Girls and Boys alike in India?  What are we teaching our boys, that lead to discrimination against girls? Why one of the fastest growing economies in South Asia is leaving its women behind and marching forward with men only.

Support for families of cancer patients

​

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, their entire family is affected. How does family change in these circumstances and what types of support do family members provide to cancer patients? The purpose of this presentation is to communicate what happened to cancer patients and their families, to learn from their experiences and to talk about certain ways we can support our loved ones.

Optimising exercise and nutrition to burn fat

A high capacity to burn fat e.g. during low-to-moderate intensity exercise, is an important marker of health and a determinant of optimal endurance performance. However, little is known about factors that influence fat use during exercise and whether fat use is similar within an individual across exercise sessions. These are questions my research aims to explore.
